Re: Alternative starter for sj 1.6 conversion
An update on this!
The correct starter motor required is a D6RA13. This should have the correct mounting part for the SJ413/Samurai gearbox. I currently have a D6RA13 on mine and it has not been split so I now know 100% that it is correct.
The problem comes with ordering a brand new one. The new ones are a different design that are basically the same as the 413/Samurai "Fat Starter". So it wont fit a 1600 engine conversion.
Best bet is to find an old D6RA13. I haven't found what car they originally were fitted to, apart from some spanish Samurais and 413s.

cheers. I have got skinny corsa one thinking of making a spacer and mounting it as it all seems to line up but the silver end seems to go to far into the gearbox and hit befor its all the way in? do you think this eould work? teeth seem to come out enouth to still reach flywheel

Yeah one of the other D6RAs sticks out more than the 13 model.
I dont know if the longer one will fit to be honest
I'm going to try and find out where I can get a supply of the things from!

This is the new version that is unsuitable but has the same part number! Annoying!
