I do not take credit for this imformation as I found it online but it's very useful so thought I would share
We have all at one time or another seen Suzuki Genuine Parts (SGP) with 10 digit part number and wondered what it all means. I won't give an exhaustive list of individual part numbers here, only as the odd example, but will explain the system used for general parts such as seals, bearing, bolts and washer, etc, and also parts that belong to "Series" of vehicles.
In general, Suzuki part numbers use the first group of 5 numbers to describe the type of item, and the last 5 numbers to specify a size or variation.
Seals
Suzuki seals can come with various "1st group of 5" numbers, but those with the numbers 09282-xxxxx are usually generic seals that can be used in a wide variety of application on different vehicles. Often, they are of a plain design that is readily available from bearing shops in non-genuine brands. Seals with 09283-xxxxx numbers are usually of a more complex design, but can still be readily found non-SGP.
09282- seals will use the 2 numbers in the 6th and 7th position to indicate the ID of the seal. Some 09283- seals will also do this, but owing to the specialised designs, it is not always the case.
09282-26016 Front Axle inner seal (26x38x7)
09283-32026 G13 + G16 engines, front crank seal + Cam seal (32x47x6)
09283-48007 SJ rear wheel bearing seal (48x
09283-68001 Crank rear main seal (68x86x8)
Bearings
Again, there are specific bearing part numbers for some applications, but there are also generic bearings that can be bought from bearing suppliers.
These usually have the SGP numbers 09262-xxxxx or 09263-xxxxx.
Again, the 6th and 7th digits in the part number indicate the bearing ID.
09262-35007 Sierra rear wheel bearing (6207 size= 35x72x17)
Bolts
Bolt part numbers show the metric thread size as 6th +7th numbers, and sometimes show the length as the 8th and 9th digits.
09100-08270 SJ NT Flange/Uni bolt (M8x27mm)
01107-10303 SJ WT Flange/Uni bolt + Fuel tank mount (M10x30mm)
09119-12005 Front Wheel stud (M12 thread)
01107-08253 FWH mounting bolt (M8x25)
Washers
The 6th and 7th digits show the ID in mm.
Vehicle Series
Some parts were introduced specifically for one vehicle model, or may also be used on other models but still ldentify as from the original model:
xxxxx-53xxx LJ20
xxxxx-63xxx LJ50
xxxxx-73xxx LJ80
xxxxx-80xxx SJ410
xxxxx-83xxx SJ413 (N/T)
xxxxx-70Axx Samurai WT
xxxxx-60Axx Vitara
xxxxx-82xxx SA310 Swift
xxxxx-85xxx SK410 Super Carry
xxxxx-86xxx SA413 GTi Swift
So we see the SJ steering knuckle felt pad (45624-63001) was originally introduced as an LJ50 part. The SJ front brake disc is 55211-80000 because disc brakes were first introduced on the Type 2 1.0lt SJ410, but the brake booster is 51100-83270 because the 1.3 is when power brakes were introduced.
