33" Tyres

Post by Jordi » Tue Jan 15, 2013 1:03 pm

Make it simple for me lads.

I'm searching for 33" tyres and a lot of websites are only bringing up the 33s, notthe equivelant 285 sommit sommit sommit.

I've searched for the conversion but gets loadsa different answers. Could some of you that have 33s or there abouts on do me favour and measure the actual diameter in inches and then get the 285/75/15 or what ever size is says off the tyre wall.

I think its something like a 315 (12.5inch almost), 70 (70% of 315mm = 220mm = 8.6"), 15. That would give overall diameter of 32.2"

Thanks

For 15" wheels they only really list tyres in imperial i.e. 33x10.50r15 or 33x12.50r15

It's only really when they are on 16" wheels that they use the metric equivalent. I doubt you will find 33s listed in metric for 15" wheels

I.e. 285/75r16 is 33x11.2

P.s. this should be in wheels, tyres and brakes  Are you trying to give me some work to do or something :thefinger:

I'll keep searching. Prices vary wildly. I know quite a few on here run Insas but most places seem out of stock in 33s.

The most common result is the KL71. I'm trying to keep the price down as i'm gonna put wheels on too and keep my 31 A/Ts as my road tyres for back and forth to work.

Any ideas for stockists? Or cheapish but decent tyres?

As this being in the wrong section. Due to the SCUK induced nightmares and lack of sleep that was the last thing on my mind. Its everytime i close my eyes.

Are you going to pay for all our therapy?

I quite like the look of these http://www.4x4tyres.co.uk/33-1250-15/33 ... p-761.html but then if you want some 33s just for offroading then silverstone extreme are nice, it's what I'm gonna go for next but they are a bit more expensive

I was liking the price of those adventuro tyres. Was looking at them earlier on.

Those silverstones look awfully familiar. Like a special track. Or those malatesta tyres too. A lot of the remould tyres are all the same treads very nearly. Its working out the best quality tyres. I always used to buy colways and never had a problem. They're long gone.

I don't want something that is going to perish quickly or suffer collapsed side walls. I'm still drawn to the KL71s as i don't think they'd be too savage on the road driving to and from laning and pay and play sites.

Again for the laning i have know of complaints being made about "those lunatics with dumper tyres". Aimed at those with very aggressive but legal tread patterns.

I think i'm going to have to have an actual phone around for wheels. All the seaches just bring up landrover stud patterns.

Well silverstone aren't remoulds  I'm not a fan of any remoulds to be honest, they'll never last as long as a premium tyre and tend to have really stiff sidewalls a lot of the time.

Possible winner. That seller has everything i want and the prices don't seem too wild.
