I recently fitted an oil pressure gauge to my sj 1.3 I'm using 10w 40 semi synthetic as its cheap for me to get hold of and the piston rings/ crankshaft seals ect are all very leaky. It basically does about 200mpg of oil
If like to know the manufactures oil pressure guidelines when hot and cold and what oil used
First startup ( engine cold ) its about 40psi
Medium warm its 20psi
And running temperature ( general driving after half an hour or more) its between 5- 15 which is extremely low!!!
Now should I try a thicker oil?
My engine is knackerd but I don't have the time to fit my new engine yet and still have to use my Sj to run around in so would love to know what my engine should really be giving out!!
Thanks for any info
1.3 oil pressure? What should it be when hot and cold???
Re: 1.3 oil pressure? What should it be when hot and cold???
All it says in the service manual is 42.7-59.7psi at 3000rpm, doesn't state if that's hot or cold though, let me have a better look.
