yes this is the one i have bought. Is there any definate way of finding out whether this is a samurai as i dont want to go for parts to find out that they are wrong as it looks like im going to have to do a bit of travelling to get them?

How can you tell? Does this mean that i can only use samurai parts due to the wider axles?
The general body styling shows its a samurai. (Dash type, Bigger Arches/wider track/wider spring mounting points, Wing badges, Side repeater location, Bonnet is bulged, etc.)

Just went for Jap because I had a quick glance on my phone and noticed it has Jap light and wiper stalks but as Darrell has noticed the Spanish lights it might be worth a look at the first three letters of the Vin number

if it starts JSA its Jap if its VSE its spanish

Either way where it was built wont affect what parts you get as long as they are for the wider samurai axle.

Strangely (and again not a bad thing) Its 1990 registered but both vehicle checks I looked up for it say its a 1298cc which I would guess means its SPI.

Didn't think they were fitting the G13BA that early?

ive just had a look and the chassis number is JSA but all this G13BA and SPI means absolutely nothing to me.....lol but i guess i will soon pick it up.So at least we can say its definately a samurai so i can start to source the parts and hopefully get it going again before the end of the month so i can get on the pay and play day at Cowm quarry in Whitworth.

Yes it is definitely a Japanese built Samurai then.

Where it was built really makes little difference apart from what side the wiper and light stalks are on and some slight differences in the brakes and handbrake setup.

SPI - Single point injection

G13 - is G series engine thats a 1.3 litre (the A or BA letter after just relates to different refinements of that engine. BA being the later SPI one and A being the earlier carb fuelled one)

The engine is definately not injection but has a Nikki carb on it.There are a few pipes what have been blanked off and are now not doing anything but the engine seems very quiet and runs well although there is a bit of blue smoke on a cold start up.Im not too fussed about this smoke as it is only going to be used for offroading but it has been in for its MOT and failed on a tiny bit of welding in the back near the wheel arch and the washers not very efficient and so i dont think that its done too bad.

Loose pipes and wires are nothing to worry about. I've got loads, shes been running fine for four years now. Passed last MOT with an advisory on spring bushes.

I love the fact it's not emissions tested, it would fail, badly!
