Mine sometimes groans a bit when I spin the wheel quickly back from lock. I'm guessing this is dry bushings too?
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

You tried oiling the bushings? I'm going to give that a shot.
