got the other sj broke as you may have seen in for sale items, before i do the leaf over axle, im converting the rear axle to discs. ive bought a transmission hand brake from rockwatt on here so that should be here next week. will update with pics once the lift is done

well, just a quick update with pics from last few weeks, progress is very slow at the minute.. money has been taken up on my daily driver, it broke down and ive had to throw a bit of money its way :(
The progress is also slow because im trying to find the best way of widening the wheel base. i think im going to cut the centres out the wheels and re weld them further back.
I have also been busy with the SJ i broke, now ive got rid of most of it, i can crack on with mine, only being able to spend 1 day every 2 weeks on it though really shows with the progress.
a few pics ive taken over the last few weeks of it, including Diff apart, i have welded the rear diff up on it. im also looking into getting manual free wheeling hubs for the front so i can weld the front diff up.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting axles back on to see how high it is going to be, plus when suspension is back on, I can make a start with body filler and get the body looking something like.

Bloody hell is that a mig welder I see I wondered how long you would last working On a suzuki using gas coming on nicely there matey, if welding the front diff I would recommend power steering and either giving it a few mods to up the pressure (in the DIY section) will help with the steering!

Yeah it's a mig lol... it's much easier to use than the gas on the sj!!. Is the power steering an easy enough modification? I'm only asking because I am planning a 1.9td conversion eventually and that could be fitted with a pas pump on it, or will that not do it?
Progress is terribly slow at minute, looking forward to getting body done and painted so I can get it all sealed up.

Been to the sj again today, after having a quick drive up to Rockwall to pic my transmission brake drum up, , he had even sand blasted it all up! Big thanks for that, it now looks brand new with a quick coat of Hammerite .
Going back tomorrow as didn't get anything done besides paint that and the leaf springs. Axles going back on then taking a leap backwards and taking the body off!!
Body going in garage to have final welding done then filled etc. Rolling chassis can then be plumbed up easily with new brake pipes all round, new fuel pipes, breather pipes, also the rear wiring for tank and lights can be run along chassis, as well as painting the chassis with underseal.
Will upload pics tomorrow night hopefully of body off

I think you want a Jimny or Vitara PAS system and you have to make an adapter plate with bolt studs in it at a particular angle.

I put it on mine using a Vit PAS box, pump and pipes. A very worthwhile modification I'd say. Even if it makes me a womanJay30685 wrote:Is the power steering an easy enough modification? I made a wedge as per on this link.

I think a Jimny box bolts straight onto an SJ so the wedge isn't required.
I needed a modified crank pulley to drive the pump as well.
It's all easy enough to do, but a bit of a PITA getting the pipes in.

use a jimny box no matter what is saves faffing around making a wedge for a vit box , also sometimes if you use a vit box you get full lock one way and fuck all the other , so i would recommend using a jimny box
