When I overtake you doing 70MPH up a hill with my LJ, while your trying to get yours up to 50, you'll be replacing that 800 lump!!!!

Ok guys thanks for giving me a couple of options, I plan to keep the 800cc engine as I also want to keep it fairly original running gear wise, however when I went to pick up the calliper rebuild kits from Suzuki today, I asked how much one oil seal was, it worked out at £5.75 including vat so £46 all in for a set of 8, so does anyone know of anywhere that sells them cheaper than that as that seems a bit pricey to me or what size they are so I can have a look?

The bikinitop in the eBay link is a good one! Bonytops is the only one who makers new tops for the LJ80 at the moment as far as i know.

Doors are rare at the moment. A friend of me have many doors, but i think shipping will kill you... if he's willing to sell.

If you need a color code of an original color, check here: http://www.offroadrunner.nl/kleuren-lj80.html ;)

Engine: the original 800 is strong enough! I drove my old 800 for 15 years without any problem, and it brings me all over Europe!
Although, when you decide to use a new engine, a 1000 is allways better! But if you have the opportunity, take the engine out of a Suzuki SC100!
Original 800 = 39 hp
1000 out of the 410 = 45 hp
1000 out of the SC100 = 49 hp!

I'm assuming you mean the valve stem oil seals? You will need a full headset anyway as the head has to come off. They are available on E bay for about £30, but i would check the price at your local motor factor first as they should be able to get them without the postage cost and they are often cheaper anyway.

Its worth decoking as well and fitting a new timing belt at the same time.

The SC100 engine is better, but you'll be lucky to find one now, I used to buy them as soon as they came into the local breakers. But havn't seen one for 15 years.

I'm an old school LJ owner from the days when you everbody used to junk the 800 lump ASAP. Didn't care about originallty just wanted it to go better for trialling etc. By the way I'd check it hasn't already been converted. I've bought a couple of LJ's already fitted with 970 engines and the owners didn't even know!!!! Used to get £300 just for the engine 20 years ago and sell the LJ on with one of the LJ lumps I had lying around.

Hi, yes I mean the valve stem oil seals, didn't think they would be included in a head set, the only sets that I can find are on eBay and will have to be shipped over from Austraillia

Try the gasket shop on ebay, they might have them. The valve stem oil seals should be the same as on the 970cc as it's the same head.

edit: just found this

Ok I will ask the gasket shop, it looks like you get a lot more in the kit from Australia than the one in germany, if it came to getting one shipped in it might be worth paying the bit extra?
