Re: fitting a rev counter to a SJ410...
I developed a design for a digital one, but never finished it. I got the electrics working on a prototyping board, but then never had a printed circuit board made or anything.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

yea, there really really easy. you wire them up to the negative of the ignition coil and it determines the engine speed from this. not sure how you work out which wire is which
and they look real cool

There's plenty on fleabay. I would expect 4 wires, positive from ignition, earth, coil, sidelights. Any new unit will have instructions. I have heard that some units don't work on a car using points and condenser so it may be worth phoning whoever before buying it. Or buy one from your local motorist shop, at least you have somebody to throw it back at if it doesn't work.

right i bought the 52mm tim guage and as darrel says it is 4 wires , neg and pos direct from the coil , the other two wires is one is a earth , and the other is the feed to light the lights up in the rev counter , take about 5mins to fit if that...
