Turning circle

Post by Christoff » Fri Sep 28, 2012 10:55 pm

Been bugging me this for ages. I expected my SJ to have a mega turning circle. My mums jimny has great lock and as a result, really good turning circle

My SJ is the worst I've ever driven. Normal or fault in the steering box?

Not really sure. My SJ's turning circle is not as good as my work car, which is a MK4 Astra, but I wouldn't say it was bad. It's better than a Focus.

When I swing quickly to lock, it hits the stops with a muted metallic 'donk.'
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Jimny turning circle 16.1ft

That sounds reasonable. The TC of a Land Rover's got to be like, what, 50 feet?

I'm reading that wrong  . It was turning radius, so does that mean it's 33.3ft and 32.2ft. Found a London black cab taxi has a turning circle of 25ft.

I think mines got a problem then. I can't hit any bumpstops on lock. It gets harder to turn the more lock I give.
