Steering Damper Installation help
I just received my rough country steering damper kit, the kits never being fitted but 2nd hand and comes with no instructions. Could any of you point me in right direction as this is my first sj. Thanks Andy

Heres a picture of mine. Might be some help to you, the end that you cant see in the picture is just clamped on to the axle.
86 SJ413 tin top, 1.6 8v, SU carb, YJ spring conversion, virtual lift, 33x12.5x15 KL71's, rocklobster, rear discs, power steering.

Right, couldn't find any instructions for rough country. I did however find some instruction for a similar damper only a different make. I robbed the pic and text, then altered a few bit (American spelling & left hand drive). Hopefully it reads correct now. Sorry, took me a while

looks simple enough, the N/S end away from the piston what dose it attach to

Gotta bracket that goes round the axle by a u bolt if I remember correctly, the other is on the steering bar as shown

Just be aware with these...
I've been refused an MOT before because one end of the steering damper is supposed to be attached to the chassis

If they try to say this just tell them to look at a rangerover classic. The non steering link end of the damper attaches to a bracket bolted to the front diff as standard.twiss wrote:Just be aware with these...
