Re: Dans Zook Build - ITS FINALLY HOT OUT THERE!!!

I was going to fit it where the pressure switch is.

Seems to be differing views online but the general idea is that that is the temp of the oil entering the engine.

Trial and error I guess. There are a few other allen key plugs in oil passageways at various points around the engine to try though.

Very nice work on your door panels and gauges. Never saw mirrored face gauges before they are very unique and look good when lit up.

If you don’t mind me asking, why the oil temp gauge? I have never run one and was curious.

Thanks.

The gauges were free from a friend so I thought why not fit them.

I decided two would look odd and I couldnt find them anywhere to get a matching voltage gauge so it will be fitted mainly for asthetic reasons

It's interesting you say that Terry as My golf GTI has an oil temp gauge on the MFA as standard, It's probably the gauge I use the most as it gives me a better idea on when the engine is up to it's optimum running temperature and when I have been giving it a bit too much abuse around country lanes (avoiding the bushes). I also noticed that between the old and new engine, the old engine ran at the same water temp but the oil used to run quite a bit hotter, I'm guessing it was down to the fact the bottom end on the old engine wasn't in great shape, it did not pull nowhere near as smoothly as the new engine. I only run an oil pressure gauge on the SJ though.

Looking good Dan, I must pop over soon to check out the progress in person.

I think all turbo'd VAG cars have them, my Audi's got one. Very handy as the water temp gauge has just packed up.

All the N/A VW cars with computers do.

My Mrs Mk3 Golf GTI has one as well. Never seems to change much but just something else to fiddle with!

They aint being used yet but I couldnt resist a local bargain so they are sitting in the shed till it gets bigger tyres.

Defo worth doing then! I've only just fixed the holes in the floor!! :hahaha:

Riveted the door cards on tonight by light from the street light behind my house.

Was hard to get even spacing for the rivets as you are governed by the shape of the door lip behind it. So I just went for something that looked nice to the eye.

Got both doors the same so thats what matters.

Working later than usual so still not much light for me to work in!
