Re: Power steering on my sj
Im not sure about a 410 but on a 1.3 you can use a vit pump and reservoir and modify a pulley for the engine then run a vitara steering box on a wedge or a jimny steering box bolts straight on
On the vitara engines it can be bolted on and then use either box

Re: Power steering on my sj
For a 410 you'll need to fab up a custom power steering pump bracket and also try and find/make a double pully to drive it? You might be able to redrill a vit one though?
Or you could perhaps try an electric power steering pump?

Re: Power steering on my sj
I am going to be doing the Electric pump thing on my sj in a couple of weeks, and i too was going to use a small citroen/pug unit on my jimny box
Might also try and make some sort of voltage regulator to adjust the power/force too

Looking forward to seeing some power steering with electric pumps on an SJ, I've not actually seen it done before.

Re: Power steering on my sj
not sure if this is anyhelp but the new rules require a warning light for electric driven power steering

Warning lights
As well as electronic parking brake and electronic stability control warning lights (where fitted) the MOT test will also include checks for the correct function of the following, where fitted;
Headlight main beam warning light
Brake fluid level warning light
Electronic power steering warning light
Tyre pressure monitoring system warning light
Air bag warning light
Seat belt pre-tensioner warning light

Re: Power steering on my sj
Naa thats ok, that is only for cars that have the light fitted as standard, plus, my system (steering) still works even without the pump working
