Right... This is my first post in ages and I know im really lazy but I'm gunna have to spare my update for another day. ACTION IS HAPPENING THOUGH!
A friend has been offered a 1.3i SPI Sammy for free if he can get it running by friday!
It needs a dizzy which on the SPI model contains a "crankshaft" position sensor (rubbish name!)
I tried my Dizzy from 1.3 carb model and managed to fiddle it so the points would get the coil to pulse properly and generate sparks but without the position sensors data the ECU wont run any of the fuel system. Thought about rigging the injector open aswell but that isnt exactly a long term fix!
Does anyone know wether the dizzy from an 8v SPI Vitara will fit and has a position sensor in it that could be wired into the Sammy.
If it helps the Plug on the sammy loom is a rounded white triangle shape with three pins.
Dan
p.s. my story to come soon. basically the body coming off
Thanks

main stealers want £350 for original one and they reckon the vit one wont work. if the sensor is in it though surely it will run. advance curve may be out but it will still run surely.

fawking hell thats expensive! I replied earlier on Facebook matey! I would imagine that a 1.8 8V spi dizzy should work, it's pretty much the same engine just with a longer stroke so I can't really see why it wouldn't run with a vit one!
You can always just get a carb inlet manifold and convert it to run a carb, using a normal dizzy.

think chucking a carb on it is the only and best option. Might set hime back a few quid but hes getting the anus for basically nothing anyway.
Will have a chat with u about mine soon Scottie.
