Least you got to give the swap a good shake down before going into new vehicle.

These things happen man, will be a good car for someone. And market seems good the now

Turns out the inlet manifold on the GV G16b has a rather tall inlet manifold compared to the earlier 16vs as I’ve used the same engine mount set up that I have many times before with g16 swaps and can’t close the bonnet
I’ve just bought a Jimny inlet manifold to fit to hopefully solve that issue as they don’t sit as tall.

Soooo I’ve been continuing with this, almost got the wiring loom finished and made some new rad mounts to drop a vit 1.6 rad in.

Ran into an issue trying to use a g13bb inlet manifold though. Although the inlet will bolt onto the g16b (as people do when converting a Jimny to 1.6) the electrics are not compatible with the GV loom and ECU. I thought ok, I’ll just swap the EGR, throttle body and MAP sensor onto the g13bb inlet. No cigar! The TB has a different bolt pattern and the MAP sensor is a completely different style. I think the EGR and Evap canister purge valve would swap over though.

I know guys in Australia use the G13bb inlet on baleno engines and I’m pretty sure they fit the baleno TB so I’m presuming the coil pack baleno engine has the same electrics as the Jimny.

So I think I’m gonna fabricate some new engine mounts and drop the engine 40mm, this shouldn’t be an issue as it has suspension lift so the sump should clear fine. Just another hurdle I didn’t need 🤣

It’s all part of the fun though to see what works and what doesn’t with SJ engine swaps.

The early 16v engines are so rare now, nice to know about the differences on the newer style. It's something I keep saying I want to do withy blue SJ. What have you done fuel pump wise?

I just run spi Samurai fuel tanks with the internal pump and run a bigger return line. You can get them new.

This hasn’t put me off carrying on with the GV g16b swap in my blue one either (I’m actually going to run an alto fuel tank in that) It’s just a bit more of a challenge than I expected 😅

How come the alto fuel tank. Your builds are always good inspiration for others.
What has the j20 gone/going into? Would love to see it in person at a scuk meet...........

Basically I got an Alto tank with the alto engine I’m trying to fit in my LJ, it’s quite flat so I can tuck it up a bit higher for more clearance. It won’t fit with stock rear shock mounts so I’m going to run the shocks on the outside of the chassis rails on Blue, I can just about get away with that because of the extra width of the full float conversion.

I want to build myself a little trials car so I’ve been collecting parts for that and thought the j20 auto would be perfect.

Far too many projects and not enough time 😅
