Lwb Santana build

Post by Rankine » Mon May 01, 2023 7:43 am

Good morning everyone, I've been after a long wheelbase for a while now and luckily Mike managed to sort me out with one.

It arrives Thursday and the wife's been away since Saturday morning so I've had a good stint on it already. Sadly the welder packed in last night when I got to the rear arch.

Managed to get the new 50x100 sill on and the front arch tubbed before hand tho.

Made it in safe hands though. The delivery guy was brand new.

Cheers man, it'll be good when I get the welder fixed. Might borrow a mates to keep progress moving.

Managed to get 2 hours up the garage today. Got the rear shock and leafs off today without snapping anything thing. Glad as its the first time I've had a sj without any snapped shock mounts (so far)

Next time I'm up I'll be stripping the rear of the white one to get parts swapped over. One of my friends is hopefully gonna buy the white one for his Mrs, he'd planned to build her one but dosent have the time.

Back again, been a busy time since last posted. Moved into a new house in April and found out in the same week that the wife was pregnant! So been doing jobs about the house to get it ready for when there due in December.

But I've now fixed the welder, sold the white samurai to free up some funds and I've 5 days holiday to take before December. Plan is to book them end or the month and spend the full week at the garage.

Since I last posted Ive got all the suspension and wheels swapped over. Fitted a break servo from my old nissan primera that I recently scrapped but haven't plumbed it up yet.

Be spending time there after work each night and lunches on quiet work days when I can till its sorted.

Not been taking pictures but still been working away at it.

Dashboard is back in, most connections are back together still some stuff under the dash to connect up, also need to remove the loom thats been added for a rear wiper.

Today I got all the plumbing connected up around engine but then removed the radiator so I could get the lines in for the power steering. Next job will be notching the front chassis leg fot the power steering to clear, have also left got a new crankshaft pulley to allow me to run powersteering on the 1.3

One side pretty much done, just bodymount under pedals to sort, but will get them when have both sille on so can lift it of chassis for access.

Passenger side is cut out from the rear arch forward still to attack the bulkhead. Flipped the seat brackets back over and made some better bases for them that fit the standard mounting holes.
