gearbox 1980 lj 80
Hi there i have a original unmodified 1980 LJ 80 Tin top. I had the gearbox refurbished in April 2021, due to the third gear cog losing three teeth. It was rebuilt using parts from another box and also having all new bearings fitted, now five months later i have the same problem. It only has 46000 miles on the clock and i only do about 7 miles a day. don't really want to change from original but not sure what to do ? any ideas.

Hi mate, did you only replace the cogs? Could there be a problem with the shaft, as in is it bent?
I hope I don’t have any problems with mine when it’s all together.
Can you post some pics of the wee beastie

yes just the cogs but all the bearings were new, not sure about the shaft but the company that refurbed it were highly recommended thought they would have checked ? someone else said maybe check the linkage.

Was it guaranteed after the rebuild? The only thing I can think is get them to check back through it. You can never have to many pics

yes but they would only guarantee the new bearings not the parts from the other box. They have had it back and stripped it down, not sure what's causing the problem.

yes thanks for your reply, not really sure what to do next. does anyone know if there is any other kind of engine gearbox combination that may fit without too many alterations ?
