Hi All
Im new here and just got bought a 1993 vitara 1.6 petrol carb version, having probs on cold start , takes a few goes to get her running even though the weather here is never cold(Spain). Any ideas, have changed plugs and leads , filters and fluids. Fine when warmed up a bit or during rest of day. Could it be a auto choke problem or dirty carb, or is this fairly normal with these old girls, hope you can shed some light .
Thanks
Carl

The auto choke is likely to be the problem

Hi
Yep i think it may be sticking auto choke, whats the best way to fix that , just carb cleaner i hope, as ive looked at the diagram of taking it apart, looks like loads going on in there for me to bugger up. Any tips on fixing it from any of you out there.
Ive done the ignition timing at 8 btdc so thats good, it just runs high on cold start up and takes a few mins to go down then idle which is still set abit high. Sorry to seem such a nooob but first time ive done this sort of thing.
Thanks Carl

From what I remember the aisin carb on the vit is a real pain to sort once it starts to go, I was real lucky with the one I had in my SJ as it worked forever. I think you can use a Webber or su Hopefully someone will be about and give you the right ideas
