Headlight fuse or relay?

It's a secret they aren't obliged to tell you anything. Failed the noise test so they want a new complete exhaust system.when I asked if it was a silencer that needed replacing he just walked away. 4000 revs indoors will always be noisy but on the road rarely gets over 2.5...Functionaries here take themselves seriously. Last year the reverse light didn't work and the lad passed it after telling me to sort it. Luck of the draw who you get and what mood.

They probably want you to be lazy and pay them to do the work. 5 minutes of snipping wires and a €199 bill. No incentives to help you to do it yourself under those circumstances.

Heatshrinking is an idea. I've a feeling that he'll look for any excuse for a full retest.

Can you choose where to take it? If they repeatedly fail it on stupid shit can you not try and find somewhere else with a little more charm?

Think they have just changed the rules so that you can use another station to check the "desfavorable" issues. He signed the results form so that he would do the inspection,which I've never come across before.So hopefully he'll get his eye wiped.

Finally got a pass,as it worked out the noise levels were still too high even after a new full exhaust system,think the bloke was embarassed, and after talking with his boss they did some computer system imput and hey presto it was OK.He explained that on their system the highest allowed is 79db but my reading was 87db@ 4000 revs.Not sure what I can do next year other than hope i get the same technico to do the test

If it's going to be inspected, I would be heatshrinking the ends of the wires.

What did they tell you about the inspection process?

Short answer is they don't tell you anything.
Love Spain and the Spanish but they do have a habit of only answering direct questions and never volunteering information that they think you don't need. :-)

Worked outt was a loose fuse for the headlights and the indicator relay was so loose it needed cable soldered to the PCB .My fuse box is different than the one pictured. The relay fitted at the top within the housing. First MOT fail on exhaust so I need to find if there is a difference from my JHT to the standard SJ413. Also failed on the tow bar electric socket (which I've never used) but will cost €30 on top of the retest fee for them to inspect the removal.

Is the old type fuse box easy to source,mine is okay at the moment but after one PCB problem it might be worthwhile to have a standard fuse box in reserve,just in case.
