Ok all built back together 1300 engine SU carb with the spring and needle as per previous posts with a brill rockwatt manifold.
Now she starts 85% time spot on then if you go to start and miss she floods and will not start until you take plugs out clean and dry erc then no problem.
Any thoughts please

Re: Su carb bad starting
What fuel pump is on it? Standard mechanical one or electric?
Mine never floods, so Im assuming theres a reason why it's getting too much fuel.
What condition is the carb in? Im wondering if theres a busted seal somewhere.
Also, when running if you look inside the carb inlet how much fuel is in there? Should be like a misty cloud coming out of the jet

Re: Su carb bad starting
It's a manual fuel pump, the last two starts have been ok, and I have done colourtune now and she was running a bit rich. When it does fail it seems to be wetting No 1 plug so I shall change plugs and leads etc just in case.
I stripped and cleaned and rebuilt carb so it should be OK.
I need to monitor really
