Hi guys

Has anyone got a copy of a uk Sammy wiring diagram ?

Or are the us or canadian ones close enough ?

What you need to know is whether your SJ is made in Japan or spain as they use some different colours.

If it's Jap then use the wiring diagram in the stickies at the top of the electrical section.

If it's spanish i'll try and find you one I think there is only small differences though like two yellow and white wires on the alternator instead of one and maybe different wiring on the lights???

to tell the difference between the spanish and the jap sj's look at the vin plate in the foot well, japanese vin number starts JSA wheras the spanish is VSE.... to be honest I don't think spanish ones went to the America, I think they were all japanese (they only made the spanish factory because if they wanted to sell in europe a percentage of the cars had to be produced here)

Re - White/yellow on alternator...yes,i traced 2 of em back to the alternator .....

Not sure if ours is spanish or jap as we have no vin plate but i have found that on yank or canadian looms the 2 white/yellows on the alternator have been replaced by 1 but go into 2 internally linked ones in the loom.

I am in the process of making a new loom for a 1.6 vitara,su hi44 combo ... ignition and alternator with wipe/wash and heater.New switch/control panel from demon tweeks and naster cuttout with overrun relay fitted.

Another way to tell if your truck is spanish or jap, spanish have square indicator/light stalks, a cronic rust problem and plenty of electrical gremlins , japs have round indicator stalks! hope that helps and it not to late.

I went over to Ians the other night, he has a fair wiring project on his hands! Found the vin plate, it had been moved to the engine bay. Started with VSE.

I do belive that this is spanish.

Hi Henry and all


Stripped all the old harness out today.

Got it running again with 5 wire loom and no switches

Started rewiring centre console with new fusebox and satrter panel from demon tweeks.

Keeping wash wipe on stalk and heater/blower controls.Fitting and electric radiator fan on a switch

Just need to sort charging circuit and away we go
