tube bender

im trying to make a full rollcage for my lj80. but im having real difficulty getting a good bend out of a cheep chinese bender. iv tried everything. does or do any one know of someone who has a jd2 type bender who can help me out or would want to rent it out or even sell. any help is well appricated. I've heard that if you use the tube bending shoe which is one size smaller it helps. Well thats what ive heard.

Crush benders like those are pretty useless for roll cage tube tbh. You can pack the tube with sand for better results or I've also known people to use thin sheets of copper or other soft metals in the die to make them fit better.

I have a jd2 model 32 but I've only got a 44.45mm die set for it and being such a pricey bit of equipment there's no way I would lend it out I'm afraid.

jd2 model 32, lucky bastard, very nice piece of kit, but expensive as you were saying. they are the best thing on the market for manual tube bending though!
