After talking to albertross74 on Ferris's build thread, I decided, rather than repeatedly thread-jacking other people's threads for half a page, I'd make a dedicated thread for me to post in, and so that other people can get some payback. :lol:

As you can see, she's an old metal-dash type, but does have the front disc brakes and stuff. 8-)

...Uhhh Henry...I've only driven my zook in and out of the garage. I'm still only on a provisional and I'm not insured. Speaking of which I passed my theory this morning. :doit:

Hole in the boot floor near the fuel filler floor hole. Only about an inch by half and inch but it will want attention.

The arches are starting to go. This is the offside rear, but the worst is the offside front. I'll get pictures.

This is a little niggly bit of annoyance. The exhaust doesn't sit right, and hence the end after the back box rests on the crossmember in the photo, and when the engine speed reaches a certain range, it produces the worst rattle/buzz. I suspect that, like the tyres and window wipers, 26 year old rubber is to blame.

And on the subject of tyres, Avon AT Rangers. Any good? I'm going to need 5 tyres new before I start driving every day. God bless my bank account :|

Get some part worn ones from the scrappy, for the speeds and milage your going to be doing it will be cost effective.

Get the rust sorted now, before it spreads.

I had a H plate white tin top sammy, a bit like yours.

I bought it with rott like yours, and i just ignored it... putting it off ect ect.

2 years later, i had no rear arches or front arches, no rear floor, no head light clusters.

I had a nice little drain hole in both foot wells and you could pick up the one side of the body, and the body mount stayed in its place...... :tomato: :beat: :beat:

Pretty much everything else isn't worth mentioning because it's standard.

I thought the standard tyres were firestones? as my original spare has one on a 'pepper pot' rim


as for the rust, check the bits that you mount the mudflaps to on the back, I had two flaps like yours and then one day I suddenly had one, the metal around it had rusted and fallen off,

As for your seats! why do you want to change them I think those originals are awsome, I love your truck I think you should keep the original stuff in it, You don't see many SJ's like yours!

that's a smart zuk! its been a while since i've seen such a tidy cab.....your seats and dash etc appears to be spotless! you gotta look past those lil rust spots....easy to fix! :mrgreen: and the lil problem with yer exhaust is even simpler wouldn't take much to sort that all out buddy :smoke:

nice one on the thread Ed!

Your truck looks sweeeet, I love that old school interior, please don't change the seats!

That rust is exactly the same as mine, only yours isn't as bad as mine was, so that'll be an easy fix for you.

And on the tyre side of things my SJ came with Dunlops like Ed's, so maybe they were standard.

I'm pretty sure the Dunlops were the standard showroom tyre, but maybe it depends on the year and/or the dealer, i dunno.

What I did was cut and shape a piece on steel into a shape a little bit like the front of a ski, if you know what I mean, and fitted that to fill most on the hole, and riveted that into place then used filler to plug any holes and get a smooth(er) finish. I then slapped over some anti-rust primer/paint.

Also, yesterday I went underneath and sorted the exhaust problem.
