weird problem with TPS
Hi.
I seem to have a problem with the TPS on the car. It holds the revs up high when running and after a while of doing so it seems not to allow the car to start. The only remedy is if I tap it lightly, upon which I hear small ‘ticking’ sound like its just released. It seems jammed. Then revs are the normal but 10 minutes later we’re back to square one.
I know you’re all thinking ‘just change the damn thing’ but that’s the problem. I have!!!!
Three times already. The first time I got an oem part the second time I went for an original but used and now another oem. I don’t think they’re all broken parts. Something else must be happening.
What makes these things jam? Do they jam?
Anyway hope you guys can help.
Would appreciate a good site to buy one of these things if you know they are reliable.

May not be that actual LHD Vit either, I think that's just a stock Wiki pic?
Surely all three units can't be bad? there's several good YouTube vids showing how to test a Suzuki TPS with a multimeter.

Here's how to check the TPS, you may need to calibrate in addition.

yes i am doing the work my self.
and i did check it with the ohmmeter as soon as i bought it. it check out fine.
i just dont get it. i dont get why when i tap it when the revs are way high they drop to normal. if i switch the ignition off with the revs high i got to tap it before i start again. i hear a clicking sound and everything id fine. like the valve had stayed open and it just releases. maybe its as simple as cleaning the valve out?
what do you guys think?

Is it possible the idle air control valve is sticking and you hear this shut when you tap the TPS.

thanks for the idle air valve suggestion but its not it.
i ve had a go at it three times today. when i tap the air valve nothing happens. only when i tap the sensor and i literally mean tap. like a tap when you knock on the door kind of tap.
has no one ever come across something like this?

Could be a dodgy wiring joint on the plug for the sensor.

I think its unlikely to be a TPS problem, its more likely to be a badly routed throttle cable or carbon build up in the intake.
