Hi there,
I am the proud owner for a samurai 1986. Its not without fault!!! I rescued it from a scrap yard and will hopefully be using it for the turtle season to get to the hard to reach nesting beaches.
I have no mechanical knowledge but the local mechanic here is doing a grand job at getting this beast to drive again. He tells me there is a problem with a segment??? Any help with this? There are no parts here for this job so he says. So what do I need to get from the UK and where is a good place for parts as I am over here in Cape Verde and can't anything here.
Any help would be great.
Jonathan

A segment? A segment of what?jono73 wrote:He tells me there is a problem with a segment???
Does he mean you have a problem with one cylinder on your engine? What's the problem? Low compression, loss of spark etc?
You'll need to find out exactly what he thinks the problem is and where it is, because it's going to be impossible to help you otherwise.

Re: Hey from Cape Verde
it is apparently a ring that is failing and leaking oil into the engine and causing low pressure...make any sense?
Also has anyone got any wiper arms for a LHD 1986 SJ?
And a working dash

Okay the dash...only the lights on the dash work, not rev counter, no speedo, no fuel and no temp????

Ah, so he's saying one of your piston rings has failed and is causing blowby?
Replacing a piston ring isn't rocket science, but it's not a job for someone who doesn't have some mechanical skill. So he should be able to replace it dead easy - once he's pulled your engine out and stripped it.
If you can find a dead Zuk with a G13 engine, it'd be easy to swap that in instead, otherwise you'll need to order in a piston ring set (I don't know if you can buy just one) and ideally a new gasket set too, as you'll need to pull the engine apart from the bottom up. If you can find a Zuk with a G16 engine, even better - but it's not *quite* a straight swap.
Try ebay - Maruti Suzuki parts from India are cheap on ebay, and good for a rebuild as Maruti Suzuki still makes the G13 engine for new cars.
