Hi everyone,
I'm planning on buying a locker for my rear diff, I was going to get one from RS engineering but he's not making any for a couple of months, Rhinorays also gets his made by rs manufacturing. The only place in the uk I can see that sell them are Jimnybits but there £238 and I would obviously prefer to pay less than that.
If anyone could let me know their experiences with these mechanical lockers good or bad points etc it would be really helpful.
Regards
Dan

I would say it all depends on how many road miles you drive in your Vitara, if it's a lot then I probably wouldn't go for that style of diff lock, well it's more of an unlocker tbh, they are constantly locked during under load and only 'ratchet' when coasting etc.
Offroad, they do what they say, on road.... some people don't mind them on road, some people hate them. You do have to adjust your driving style on road with them, put the power down around a corner and it will be just like driving with a 100% locked diff.

It is just my offroading car, I don't plan on doing a lot of miles in it as mode places I go are no more than an hour away.
Do yo know of any cheaper sites to get them or an equivalent in the uk?

Haven't you considered welding the diff up

Yes I have considered that but I don't have any spare spider gears and I don't want to have a locked rear diff 100% of the time as I do drive it around town from time to time so it would skip when parking etc. Plus if I don't get on with the locker I can put my originals back in and sell it on which I won't be able to do if I weld them together, I've looked at making them into a fozzy/Lincoln locker as well but again this would be a one way street unless I buy another diff which I don't want to do.

The 1510 won't fit a Vitara rear diff. The 1510 is a Suzuki Samurai locker without side gears, and might fit the front diff of a Vitara, but I can't see how it'd fit the rear.
The front diff on a Vitara is the same size as a Suzuki Samurai front/rear diff, the rear vit diff is bigger.
Someone who knows more about Vitaras might be able to fill in the rest.
