Am taking delivery of the latest Vitara SZ5 shortly, which is replacing my S Cross. Looking at pictures of the sat nav it appears to be different from the model my previous S Cross had. The brochures state that the Vitara GPS is voice activated in conjunction with a Smart Phone. I presume this is an alternative to entering the destination manually on the scree; as I do not possess a smart phone.

Any comments appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forum,to be honest i dont recall anyone even owning a brand new Suzuki 4x4,as most on the forum usually run very old Suzuki's for offroading and that type of thing,so i doubt that you will get a specific 1st hands experiance answer.

I could be a million miles out on this, but if its like any aftermarket GPS machine that you can mount on your dashboard, what happens is that the GPS has a facility to link in via Bluetooth your mobile phone which most phones have these days anyway, what happens is when you are driving and using the GPS,if a incoming call comes into your phone you can hit a button on the GPS while you are driving and hold the conversation while driving rather than stopping and using your handset.

Its just another way of taking a call on your phone,as its against the law to hold and talk on your mobile, you can just hit the button or what ever on your GPS and it will suppress the GPS talking and you can then talk via the Bluetooth connection,so no breaking the laws and you can still take your calls.

I could be a mile out on my answer but i think that is what it means in laymans language, you dont need a fancy phone as most basic phones have Bluetooth connectivity,it just needs pairing the 2 together.

I forgot to say,if you dont have, own a smart phone dont worry, you just dont use that facility, all GPS are all the same the input is still using your finger to tap in the destination and the phone is not used to enter data its just for taking a call on your phone.
