G16 into sj410 info
The parts you will need are
Either a 1.3 or 1.6 radiator, I prefer and would recommend to use the larger 1.6 radiator.
1.3 gearbox
1.3 flywheel
1.3 clutch
1.6 to 1.3 conversion plate, this is optional as you can do it without but they are cheap now so I prefer to use them
Skinny starter motor / 1.3 starter with a bit of grinding for block clearance.
1.3 water rail and coolant pipes, again not essential but makes the plumbing a bit easier.
If you have under 2" lift you will also need to fit the 1.3 sump and mod the oil pick up pipe to fit this.
If your sj410 is an early model <84 then you will also need to fabricate a gearbox mount as this was changed to the later style in 84 and the 413 gearbox mount will not bolt straight up like it does on the later models. (Pics to follow)
Engine mounts
To fit a g16 into an SJ410 you need to modify the engine mounts, the driver side/right/offside needs to be extended towards the front of the chassis and the other side needs to be lowered, here's an example of how my friend did it.
As a position reference the centre of the oil filter needs to end up inline with the top of the chassis rail.
Another option is to cut some mounts off an old 413 then remove the 410 engine mounts and weld the 1.3 mounts in.

Re: G16 into sj410 info
might pay to put some links in referring to the modifying of oil pick up, and possibly a write up of how to hook up the gearbox without a plate.
very good write up by the way, very clear and straight to the point!

It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out

Thank you very much for this thread!
Re: G16 into sj410 info
I have the 1600 engine mounts, the 1300 ones(including chassis mounts) and the both of the 410 ones, what would be the best way to make something up out of the 3 of them?

Re: G16 into sj410 info
sorry to dig up a old thread wondering if anyone has more info on not using an adapter plate for the gearbox.
Also about the sump I want to run the 1.6 sumo but currently have no lift still thinking about doing a ruf. Also can't find much info or a tutorial on ruf conversions anyone got a write up?
And what's wrong the the 1.6 starter motor?

Re: G16 into sj410 info
The top two gear box wholes holes line up, the gear box just needs drilling out to 12mm (i think) to match the G16 block and you use the G16 top bolts.
On the bottom the holes don't line up. The gear box studs need unscrewing from the front and screwing in from the back again.
You then need some M10 threaded bar. Offer the gear box up and bolt it in place using the top bolts. You then need 4 lengths of the M10 bar two make new bolts and two are spacers to weld to the old stud which now sticks out backwards on the gear box.
Can't find any photos right now.

Cheers jordi I might just go with a conversion kit although still deciding if the vitara gearbox is a better way to go

Try bits4vits, jimnybits, dave at llama4x4 - pretty sure one or more of those guys sell what you need.
I think a few different ebay vendors do too, but I'd trust the above more.
