My last (SWB) one was very 'tidy' - been working over it .... new this, new that, never off road, only slight rust above the petrol inlet ..... when I had to SORN it because of eyesight trouble and it just became too dicey, especially at night, and for two years there were knocks on the door asking if I'd sell it, messages through the letterbox, until finally somebody decided they'd have it anyway and one morning there was an SJ shaped hole. It's a mystery how they got it out; didn't think the engine was running.twiss wrote:Ahhh my mates in findon keep asking me if i know you and your white LWB!
Shame you've just poked your head out of the woodword, I used to live quite close in Lancing
I was so shocked and upset I (brain disengaged) went on ebay and paid about £900 for one in Norwich - looked a bit rough - and as I drove it (pretty much un-road-worthy) back the brain cleared and I saw a rust-bucket with transfer box hanging off, broken springs and more, and a strange rattle from the rear (prop-shaft or something?) which a couple of weeks later turned out to be the barely bolted on rear inner wheel nuts. Depressing. I bought the other one on ebay in 2005 and that was fine but I've learnt the lesson. Got this one from the excellent Ray Rhino Edwards .... built by him in 2005, who's luckily nearby. Security measures in place now too .... (I wish)
My very first SJ(410) was also in good nick when local junior redskins burnt it, leaving it looking like a blazing covered wagon. SJ rock'n'roll life .....
