how much fuel do you use?
hi, i have a sj with the vitara 8v SPI 1.6 engine in. it uses the su hif44 with facet pump fuel pump. I run 195/80 r15 special tracks at the moment. its got a winch bumper on the front. I'm just wondering how many miles people get to a tank of fuel? I get roughly 120 miles to a tank. is this bad?
Re: how much fuel do you use?
I'd says that's awful.
I'm 1.6 on weber carb on 215 75 15 at
I get around 100 miles to approx half a tank

wow that's really bad. Has it got a standard tank or smaller one?
If it ticks over...leave it

Re: how much fuel do you use?
I am finding that if i drive it sensibly i can get about 32mpg from my LWB V6,but if i am in 'gun it off the traffic light mode' then it drops down by a massive amount but the torque out the motor allows me to keep it on the boil without using using the gears,so hence the reasonable fuel consumption.Well i am happy with it any,but off course as soon as you start using the 4 wheel drive and driving it across fields then the mpg drops down like all 4x4 motors.
They are about as aerodynamic as a flying wardrobe and if you start adding heavy metal items onboard like winches, rollbars etc then the added weight can have some affect as well,if you are running a 1.3 in a SJ then you will be working the motor hard and the mpg wont be good either.
My little bit of input on the subject but i talk alot of 'Cr@p' anyway

Re: how much fuel do you use?
In my old SJ which had a 1.6 on standard carb, winch on rhino bumper and 195 special tracks I was getting between 25-28 to the gallon. No idea on what that is for a tank full as the most I put in at a time was £25
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

1.6 8v Sammy.
One tank = 2 days play. That's as far as my calculations go!

As Dan said. A days laning is approx £20. Thats on 33s. No idea how many MPG, speedo and ODO are all well out on mine due to the gearing.
