No dash lights / no start

Post by RocFreya » Fri Jun 05, 2015 1:20 am

Was doing great for a while now dash lights wont come on & ignition wont happen. I hear the starter turning good, it's got good juice but no start. Wiggled the lights underneath connected to what appears to be some kind of very large relay (main switch) & dash came on, started right up. That only worked once - & I haven't identified any loose connections as of yet.

Is this the infamous "clicky starter issue?"

My starter isn't just clicking though, it turns over fast & fine. Its dash / ignition control issues preventing start up.

While underneath the dash just now I spotted a nice lil red wire from behind the display broken completely from attatchement.

This appears to be the assailant - Pulling the dash aint too bad right??

Bunch of accessory wires clipped from previous owner but haven't found the one that lights the dash back up & enables the carburetor solenoid

Simple 20amp fuse was bad - it looked perfectly fine but appearences are deceptive.
.
Now I just got the turn signals / headlights to work out, they are at best flaky.

If yours are like mine they are negative switched.. Basically all 3 pins on the headlights will have 12v AMD when u turn the switch on one if them will turn to ground and allow current to flow.
