What's this worth ?
Hey everyone, opinions please. I'm thinking about selling my SJ project but would like to know roughly how much it's worth as it stands. I have completely stripped it down to the chassis, and have changed every nut and bolt. The chassis itself is completely solid with two coats of hammerite paint and a coat of underseal. The body has absolutely no rust, underneath has also been undersealed. All arches have been welded and are sound, sills have been welded, ( outer and inner) It has a rear section of a hardtop but unfortunately has no front section. Inside of the body has been sprayed black and the outer in primer. Front and rear brakes has had a complete overhaul, all new parts. Tyres are in good condition. Engine is a 1.6 vitara mated to a 1.3 Sami gearbox without plate. 60,000 miles on the engine, with Webber carb. The engine does not run at the moment though, have not had it running since I've owned it, although have seen the engine run before it was taken out of the old vehicle. I will upload pictures later. This all being said, how much would you say this is roughly worth ? Many thanks, Eddie

Re: What's this worth ?
Its a tough one to answer, trouble is what you think its worth and what people want to pay for it could be poles apart, the best way would be put it on Ebay with as many pictures as you can but with a reserve figure on it and let it find its own selling price.
That is my opinion would be the best way forward,if you had say alot of decent off road equipment like say roll bar and all the other items that usually go with off roading then it would be much easier to sell as a complete project or sell it parts wise. Its a pity that the engine is not running either but the best way would be either Ebay as a complete project to finish or break it.
Good luck with what ever option you choose.

I have to agree with Rick. As a non runner and obviously no MOT it's worth a few hundred quid. Maybe. Pics would be helpful.

I would agree with the above.
Unfortunately despite the work you have put in the fact it has no MOT and is a non-runner will massively mark it down. If its that solid why not get it running and take it for an MOT then sell it or even better keep it?

Re: What's this worth ?
I'll upload some photos tomorrow when I can get hold of a camera. The reason I am wanting to sell it as I have lost interest in the build, still like SJ's and would have one as a daily but I've been on it for nearly 2 years now and still haven't got the thing moving. I read all your comments and tried to get the engine running, a starter motor was holding me up as the old one that came with the engine was nackard so I went and got one from the scrappies, absolutely identical, same part number everything, wacked it on, tinkered around a little and it fired up, after several times starting it up grinding noises where coming from the starter, un-bolted it, metal has been worn away on the flywheel and the starter teeth. It's just one thing after another !
