vitara transfer box

hi

is it possible to remove the transfer gearbox from a 1998 vitara without removing the main gearbox
i have removed the 10 bolts from the second flange back from the end of the transfer box and the single vertical bolt thats part of the main gearbox selector casing,tried some gentle pulling but theres no movement

any ideas ?

There's 2 more bolts on the top, one hides under the gear box gearstick section, you need to remove that to get to the last bolt, it's held on by 5 bolts that are a bit awkward to get to.


Here's a pic so you can see where the 5 bolts are, once it's off you'll see the last bolt to remove the tbox.
