wheel spacers

Going to fit some 31's,is it best to fit spacers or off-set rims to clear chassis?

Depends what you can get hold off. I run spacers, have no problems, no issues or anything.

Rims would be better, but spacers are good.

But some think they are a death trap.. swings and roundabouts.

That was quick! Only using them off road so not high speed if that makes any difference.

I've gone for off set rims and spacers, gives a good few extra inches of stability. If i could of got rims with a bigger off set i would have and done with out spacers tho. I couldn't get the wheels i wanted off set that far, and others where way too expensive for me.

I think if i go any wider, it'll need fat ass stickers on it.

Not sure if your joking or not! I race stockcars in my sparetime :?: and some drivers run up to 8inch offset but also do drive shafts on a regular basis! I was thinking about this problem on the sj.

I think competition limit is 28mm, I ran 32mm spacers for a while. but the main difference is what sort of spacers you run. The cast type are the cheaper ones, but I went for the more expensive machined ones (as I was running on the road and they are supposed to be heavier duty!)

If you go too wide with the spacers & offset you end up going through wheel bearings becuase of the extra stress, Personally I would go with either one or the other,

I think that bits 4 vits sell the spacers, http://www.bits4vits.co.uk/store/index.php

Just remember the more offset your wheels become the more strain there is on your wheel bearings and they will fail more often!
