That doesn't look anything like the metal dash I had on my 84.

Re: original early 1980s Suzuki stereo
I've got a stereo in the garage from an 80's Nova Saloon, no tape deck, just radio with x4 presets and an analogue tuner, it's not in good condition (looks like it has some overspray on it?) I don't know what would have been fitted to an SJ but I imagine it's not far from the real thing, I can take a photo if you want?
Re: original early 1980s Suzuki stereo
I think I have posted a picture of my radio from a LJ80. Push button and only one speaker. My friends 410 has an identical one but I can not say if that is original. When recently in the Philippines I did some work on some Carry vans and trucks. Year, any bodies guess, 80ties something with F5a engines. They all had the same radio as my one. Perhaps that's the correct model for yours. Have fun with the search.

Well I managed to post the picture. As you can see it has a Suzuki name plate so that might help in the search. Mine was full of Cyprus dust that had turned solid, everything was seized up but with a bit of TLC and a few helpful words, things eventually moved. Buttons now work, even on preset and when it was powered up--- IT WORKED.

Looks like you have found the real thing. Have fun searching for knobs. Each side is in two parts. Right side - front part push for on and turn for volume, back part, turn for tone. Left side moves for tuning. The push buttons are for set stations. After freeing mine up I discovered that they are also pull buttons. Pull a button out, turn the tuner to the station you want, push the button in and it's then preset to that station. Mine will be going back into the LJ80 ( Hopefully fairly soon) I expect the only time I will be able to hear it is when I stop.
