Starting problems ????
Hi all need a bit of help , we stuck here , so finally gettin round to wiring the sj up today n hit a problem i have the vitara loom all sorted and wired up , but i didnt have the egnition barrel n that just the black cap that u turn wif a screwdriver lol , so i can turn the engine over but got to keep screwdriver turned when i let go just goes off , anyideas people ?

That thing in your hand is the antenna for immobiliser, where is the key?

I bought a immo and a key off a guy on here who programmed them to my ecu , av tried putting key through that ring but does the same ,

Have you wired up the Check Engine Light? it was probably me that supplied the immo but I don't remember which ECU you have what is the part number?

Yea mate it was you didnt realise there , i have no clocks in mate not sure about engine check light what is it

That's a 4u2 ECU.
The Check Engine Light lets you pull fault codes, you can wire up a temporary one with a small bulb or LED (with resistor). On the Vit there was a six-way connector under the bonnet near the driver's side headlight, you need to place a jumper in that to get the CEL to flash the fault codes. You'll have to crank for at least 15secs to check for a cam sensor failure.

Am not to gud wif wiring lyk but a friend is so o is getting the clocks a permeant fix ? , sorry for all questions mate am not sure on this so will show to a fried so is that to get fault codes up or will it start it after 15 secs thanks

So its not the egnition barrel thing mate its sumit to do with the wiring or immo ?

Yes there should be at least one wire there, from the distributor to the bulkhead.
