I believe the fault is the alternator. Looking at this diagram the 3 lights in question will light when the alternator is supplying ground. I did mine from underneath, I did use a pump (oil can with hose) though.

You need to check the wiring is in place. If so you just need the lights,switch and probably a relay/fuse installed in the appropriate sockets.

I believe this is governed by the switch internal electronics. When the switch is held down for a pre-set time it will continue to lower the window until it mechanically stops/runs out of travel. I assume the current increase then switches the power off. This would be very difficult to replicate for...
