Best place for handbrake shoes?
I've just converted my SJ trialer to rear discs, in anticipation of fitting fiddle brakes to it. Thankfully the transfer box on it had a transmission brake on it, despite having rear brake handbrakes (the original one crapped out and the one I happened to have to replace it with just happened to hav...

Re: SJ Trialer
It gets tired, bless it. This weekend the SU has been fitted to it, on a bodge-it and scarper manifold, over which the bonnet DOES close. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/2012-04-14191648.jpg The can is stand-in Start Ya B*stard - works very well and leaves a nice lemony smell........

Re: SJ Trialer
Got a crafty couple of hours at Wellow Racing last night, after dropping in to Newey & Eyre at lunch to pick up a couple of ring crimps. Mike-who-shares-the-barn's Dad is an electrician so has proper crimping pliers for the crimps. We now have properly done ends on both power cables to the kill ...

Re: SJ Trialer
Tonight was mostly about tow points and the fuel tank. Front tow point welded on, so the rope goes through the original hoop, then the hoop goes over the new point to secure it. The big win here is that it no longer needs a shackle to secure the rope: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhe...

Re: SJ Trialer
It's just just been built to MSA minimum spec on the outriggers, then gusseted to the chassis, with 3mm plate.
No point doing these things if you're not planning to use them to their fullest extent.

Finally getting somewhere: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v627/diamondhell/2012-03-11150624.jpg Bolted up the bar that reinforces the tin shed on top of the chassis, under the dashboard. Both the seat mounts are finished, but the passenger seat isn't bolted down right now - makes it easier to do ...

Re: monsterr sj
If "stacking" a chassis doesn't require an SVA I'll trade my SJ for a defender IVA, not SVA these days and even if it did need IVA it's unlikely that the double chassis aspect of things would be the most challenging aspect of the IVA test, as it doesn't have a direct effect on passenger s...
