wheel help

Post by timwilks13 » Thu Mar 06, 2014 11:03 pm

blowing one of my tyres up on a daily basis, the tyre wall has split and then there's a puncture in the same inner tube. Been looking at some other tyres not too far from me, theyre 235/60/15's , only road tyres but they hold air, on rims for £60. My current tyres are 195/70/15, am i right in thinking then that those others are going to be smaller than my current ones? as with my gearing running 195's is bad enough and going any smaller would be horrendous!

err...no. These will be a LOT bigger. They might just fit a standard SJ, you might need to get a hammer out and bash in the plates under the front wheel arches.

Yeah the overall diameter will be slightly smaller but the new tyres will be wider, the 235/195 refers to the tyres width, a 195 tyre is roughly 7.5 inch wide and the 235 is roughly 9 inch wide. Its the 70/60 bit that makes a difference to the size, this is the height of the tyres side wall, there wont be much difference but they will be slightly smaller.

Smaller? 195 equals an overall diameter of 634mm. 235 is 686mm.
