suzuki gearbox identity

have 1.6 16v vit engine im selling , but im unsure on the gear box as the starter motors i have dont fit it, so i dont think its the sami box (was fitted in a sami)

has "U 87" on it , any help to identfiy this box is apreciated cheers :pepsi:

there are two types of starter motor, a fat one and a skiny one, a fat one wont fit with the vitara engine which may be your problem.

if you look at the specs page you will find the ratios for the different boxes. mark the out put flange, stick in 1st gear rotate the inpul flange one rotation get someone to count the turns of the output and match up to the specs sheet.

I think thats the correct way, if not someone will correct me.

Noticeably smaller than a vit one, and will have a t box as one unit if it has a vit gear box.

that looks like it, tho no adaptor plate is fitted between the box and engine on my one, ahhh i see its 87U too.

It will be bolted onto the bell housing like that one.
