Help anyone!
Recently bought a little sj, came to start up and there was no spark coming from the coil. it has no key barrel either so was wondering the the person had tried to hotwire it to get it started thev got the wires mixed up? does the key barrel have anthing to do with sending a current to the coil telling it to spark on start up? any help much appriciated!

As far as I am aware the barrel is just a set of switch contacts, so it does make the starter circuits.
How are you managing to turn the engine over now?

You're sure it's no spark? Coil may be goosed. How old are the plugs? For the sake of a couple of quid may be worth fitting new.
Have you pulled the fuel pipe off to make sure it is pumping through?

You need to take the actual spark plug out. The leads won't spark.
Take a plug.out and.get some one to turn it over while you hold the spark plug next to the exhaust manifold.

When I bought my Sammi the ignition barrel had been broken out of it.
I'm sure I connected two wires together to turn it over, and I had to make one of the others live to make the ignition circuit. I can't for the life of me remember the details, but I'm surprised one of the electrickery experts haven't come up with the simple error you are doing.
