wiper motor fault? Please help!

Hi all,

Went out in the SJ today and turned the wipers on.

Wiper went up the screen half way then stopped.

Had to push them up fully before they could be pushed back down.

Turned them on again and exactly the same thing happens and they seemed to be moving very slow.

I haven't driven the anus for a couple of weeks what is the possible cause based on the symptoms? What should I check first?

Thanks

Tom

Were they easy to push?

I would try lubing up where the shafts come through the body and any of the linkage if you can get to it. Something light like wd40, if this frees things off then put something heavier on like engine oil.

Well this is what I would try first

Are the wipers bolted tightly on the splines?

thanks guys, no they were stiff and would not return without some force.

I do hope the old WD40 will do the trick,

if not I'll let you know for the next plan of attack! :D

That happened to mine after being sat around for a long, long time. Bathed them in WD40 and they freed up - but it took days of squirting oil on them. Days and days!!!
