have just bought a 2000lb winch without remote for cheap. my plan was to try it out on the suzuki when it's up and running, as an experiment, as I am very curious how far I can actually get with it, even if I have to double it up.

what you people's thought about? by the way, I'm never evr going to rely on it, as I know I will get into trouble if I do :screwy:

Bit underpowered in my opinion. For and SJ a 6000lb is about right.

It will help if you get a little bit stuck, but I wouldn't use it if you're half buried in mud!

The weight of the SJ being stuck will put more than 2000lb worth of weight on the cable and you may run the risk of snapping the winch cable which is dangerous enough!

I completely agree with Jordi on this one... 6000lb min really, if you're going to be getting properly stuck on a regular basis I would go for 9000lb

Although saying that I've recovered myself a few times with a 1400lb hand winch!!!

Ye I think u will need a bigger winch mate

I would love to get a big winch for mine

As my sj was fully stuck In mud a while back we had to used a rachet strap tied it to a tree and my cousin in his standard sj 413 trying to tow me out and it took about 30 mins to get me out so I would do what twiss and jordi said I

Yes that's me on.the bonnet I was nearly :bawling:

That's not very stuck ;)

My hand winch has got me out of stickier spots than that hehe

A 2000lb winch would be sufficient to pull your SJ onto a trailer.

I really wouldn't be doing much more than that with it.

Scottie I said roughly 2 years as you have to drive threw long grass/ gorsie stuff on.the moors at the other side and you can tell no one has been threw there in a while

A couple of mates are going to try it
