Hi, I have 7j rims on the way & I'm wondering what are the widest tyres I could put on them, I have the opportunity of getting some 31/10.50's but reckon these will be too wide.......would I be right in thinking 265's will be the limit?
Cheers
Lee

excellent.......everything I read and everyone I spoke to told me it couldn't be done, apparently there's the legalities of it but not really going to be used on the road, maybe a few miles from one green lane to another, and I was also told that they needed to be on at least 8j or there would be problems.

Hmmm
To me they look a good fit on the rims. Ive seen 31s on 5.5j rims now they
Looked a bit dodgy!

I bought a brand new set of 31s on rims and they came on 7js. Looked spot on and i ran them for 3 years with no issues.

I asked the guy if they were 7j or 8j and he said he didn't know what I meant so I told him, he then said they were 7" wide and like an idiot I assumed he meant they were 7j..........why he couldn't see the 5.5j clearly stamped on the side is anyone's guess..............ok can I get away with 225/75's on 5.5j rims? if so I can just swap my existing tyres over
