uprated or heavy duty alternators?

ok chaps, its upgrade time for my alternator.

with no load its fine but I just tested it under load, I.e with everything electrical on, and its only pumping out 12.5v.

replaced and old knackered varta battery with a banner power bull 065 from work. went slightly smaller than the varter as it was pretty close to touching the bonnet :S

so any recommendations for upgraded alternators that dont require to much messing around with electrickery?

cheers
steve

Ive heard lots of people use Ford Transit alternators....
I couldn't tell you which model but I think it's usually an alternator that has a vacuum pump on the back of it

I just stick to the standard ones as they seem to work fairly well. Its partially down to personal choice but I always try to get the ones with the internal fan blades.... IMO the ones with the external fan

a) cut your fingers off
b) scoop up mud/water and spray it across the engine bay

cheers twiss! had a brain wave / headache last night and remembered one of my customers. he overhauls electrical items such as alternators and starters, plus he's cheap too. I gonna get it done before winter sets in I reckon

fyi, mine looks like this
you can get them with both the multi-v belt pulley, or the tooth belt pulley like you find on most samurais
