so my battery has finally given up the ghost. gotta double check for a power drain in the system somewhere as well as double check the alternator ( I know my belt has stretched a bit. its a new belt so it's to be expected )
my question is does anyone know how big a battery I can fit in the battery tray? or even the dimensions on the tray?
ill be doin a split charge in the future but gotta stick with a single for now
cheers steve

I have a 063 in mine.
You have to swap terminals round but they are nice and big and common too (cheap)

Ive managed to fit an optima red top in mine... RTS4.2
I don't know the size of the tray but i do know the size of the battery!
254x174x200mm
Beware though, it fits pretty well on my sammy tray, but the bracket requires a little bit of adjustment (hammering) to make it fit

Personally I would avoid the halfords batteries all together!
I bought one once and it lasted 3 years... whereas I've had other batteries that have lasted a lot longer than that! Better off saving your pennies and buying an Optima (as long as it's one made in the US, not mexico) or a Numax... or another proper battery brand...
Scottie - isn't Numax your favourite? I can't remember

Yeah Scottie loves a Numax.
I find anything bigger than standard is big enough.
I usually just ask my parts man what decent size battery he can do cheapest in the tier up from the budget option and they seem to last well.
Can't remember what brand my current 063 is but my Zook was the only vehicle on my drive that would start after 3 weeks away.

.
This is what you get if you go to Halfords and ask for a standard SJ battery!
