Not to sure how much im going to do to this SJ but i plan to get it throught an MOT to use it over the winter as my M3 is massive pain in winter. Also hope to do a bit of green laning and pay and play days once i have built a winch bumper.

Finally the race seassion is over at work, so time to get back to the escort and looking athe SJ before winter comes.

When i picked it up the previous owner told me the water pump had a dribble so provided a new water pump.

Tonight i stuck it in the barn and started stripping the water pump off it. its the first time iver had a good look around the truck and it looks fairly good with ha few crispy and crudly repaired bits as i expected.

Here are a few pics, i know bugger all about these SJ's so have no idea whats been changed apart from obvious bits like the SPOA, weber carb and steering arm. If anything else obvious has been done please point it out..

Nice truck, the Escort's looking pretty cool in the background too!

LOL, when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it was going to be related to this news article!:

That arrival made me laugh, There are some strange people out there!

My friend asked why I needed the suzuki and said it looks like its for chasing goats around mountains. The name has stuck.

Just ordered a set of plugs and leads for it, think I will stick it in for an Mot and see what fails rather than go crazy doing all the metalwork. I need to remember this is just for fun and the escort needs doing.

Not much of an update date, but I did the water pump, checked cambelt and bearing. If I had a new one to hand I would have changed it. Did plugs, leads and gave the dizzy cap a good clean inside. Stuck some new fuel in. Felt much smoother now. Sounds like there is a tappet that needs doing.

Fixed the bonnet pull which was hanging off.
Fitted my new eBay front wing indicators.
Removed one mudguard, the others mounts looks to have been cut off.

Problems I've noticed so far:
Front exhaust box has a hole.
No battery strap
Split in intake hose between airbox and carb.
Passenger seat ripped.
And of course Rust!

Also started to make a rear bulkhead for the escort, bolted the bell housing on the rebuilt gearbox and looked at adding another tube in the roll cage.

Hopfully next weekend I will give it a clean and do a few bits before I book an Mot

I won't bore you with all its had done as its not a SJ but the shell is a fairly serious Tarmac spec now.
