Shock removal

Shock removal
Trying to remove my front shocks, with intent to replace if neccessary so dont want to cut anything off, but the pin at the top has two nuts, the top one is jammed solid, so when i hold the bottom nut and turn the top one, the whole upper shock rotates....any clues? I dont want to use my water pump pliers on the shock body in case i damage it.

Soundsblike the problem I had with mine. Give it a good soak of wd40 or failing that Get a nut splitter and then replace the nuts.

Get some mole grips on the top of the pin

i have avoided trying that in case i F up the thread, i might just get some new shocks and cut the old ones off if they wont play ball.ROBBIE wrote:Get some mole grips on the top of the pin

Sometimes the bottom cup that holds the lower rubber in place is fixed to the shaft. You can just grab that woth some grips to keep the shaft from turning and dont even need much force as its such a large diameter compared to the shaft.
