Front axle Swivel seals, how do i replace them?

just been up ATS and had my tracking checked, they say shes tracking true and straight but i do need to remove the steering wheel and adjust it as its a bit out..

they say they cant adjust it themselves as there is only one adjusable track rod end..

they said that the rod that joins the steering box to the track rod has play in it but its only a very small amount, it could even be in the steering box that the play is in...

so i thought how am i going to stop the zuk wondering and wobbling, well tomorrow my steering damper should be here and scottie has told me in the past that the swivel seals have a bit of work to do to keep it from wandering and wobbling...

so i have found these on jimnybits website..
http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/sj-/-sa ... _1086.html

how do i fit them? and are Samurai swivel seals the same as SJ410?

im guessing its just a case of unbolting the swivel seal retainer and removing the old seal, clean the swivel mount and retainer and fit new seal? when i remove the old seal will oil come seeping out? if so where do i drain it from? the diff?

thanks in advance guys...

here are some pics..

well lets just say i pushed on the swivel seal and its just sort of squished and has gone like a sponge, so it definitly needs doing, if i was to do the one that goes round the driveshaft would i need to remove the swivel seal to do it? if not then ill do the swivel seal and then when i get some money aside i will do my kingpin bearing, wheel bearings and driveshaft seal in one lot..

Gotta take the whole swivel off.

Wheel off. Caliper off. Kingpin bearings out. Undo all the bolts around the seal and pull the swivel off and pull the shaft right out. The new seal needs easing over the end of the casing. Then put it all back together again.

In my opinion you do not cut the seal then fit it. Some say this is fine, to me it's asking for trouble.

I agree with jordi about cutting the seal you can stretch them over fine also if you cut the seal it defeats the object of it,

Agreed. If the bearings are OK leave them.

Take the circlip off the shaft and pull the whole hub off and do the axle seal and swivel seals at once. Its about £30 a side from a bearing supplier to do the kingpins while you are there if they need doing.

jimnybits do kingpin bearings for £30 and wheels bearings with oil seals for £36 and swivel seals are £6 each.. so I'll get a few bits at a time and do the lot.. does anyone know if there is a write up on doing this? I've never done it before...
