Hi all new on here and new to Suzuki (well 4 wheeled) and new to 4x4. Recently purchased Frank as the girlfriend has named him (Frankenstein/Frankenzuki) a 87 sj410.
Bought from the bay been standing since 98. 85k on the clock quite a bit of history. A mate trailered it back from Weston. Put it in for a mot and it failed on excessively corroded brake lines , excessive corrosion within 30cm of a seat point anchor and a wobbly mirror. Out with the welder, on with some new lines and a strip and clean oc the mirror and it passex its mot.
Took it on its maiden journey to Exeter and back (80 mile round trip) on Friday no problems. 8-)
Today loaded kayaks then off to the beach. The. This evening took it off road up a green lane 2 wheel drive the first time , then again in 4 wheel drive ( much better) :guns: second pic is at the top where its all nice and level as opposed to steep, rutted, bumpy and fun.
Needs some improvements. Both times at about the same point it died. Just like it ran out of fuel ? Also it doesn't like to restart when hot.
Needs softer longer suspension
Needs lower gearing
Needs more torque/ power bigger engine. :doublethumbs:
Have been looking on Rocky road outfitters website usa. Some really cool stuff

Welcome!

Looks rather tidy although anything is compared to mine :) I hope it wasn't from Weston in Southampton... A giant council estate by the sea!

Hi all thanks for the welcome. Frank came from Weston supermare. Not weston Southampton. The bodywork is surprisingly straight though it does have its share of aftermarket ventilation holes.
I spent a good few hours reading through the how to's last night. Need to make a shopping list.
413 gearbox and transfer box (for rock lobster)
1.6 Vitara engine and ancillarys
May be samurai axles and SPOA them.
Su carb. I presume this is for better fueling and more power/torque.
Plus more stuff as I use Frank.
